Isis Initiates Clinical Trial Of CRP Drug
Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISIS) proclaimed it has initiated a
Phase 1 study of ISIS 353512, an antisense drug that inhibits the
production of C-reactive protein (CRP). CRP levels are frequently raised
in patients with a variety of diseases including cardiovascular disease,
Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis and end-stage renal disease. The
Phase 1 sketch of ISIS 353512 is a blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled,
dose-escalation study designed to assess the safety and pharmacokinetic
profile of ISIS 353512 as well as to assess the initial effects of the drug
on baseline CRP levels in hefty volunteers. In addition, Isis is
design a blanket Phase 2 program to investigate multiple indications for
ISIS 353512.
"We consider that CRP plays an important causal role not only in
cardiovascular disease but likewise in renal and instigative diseases. Based
on our preclinical information, and the safety and pharmacological information we will
obtain from this cogitation, we plan to create a Phase 2 development plan that
evaluates several of the most scientifically and commercially attractive
indications for ISIS 353512," aforesaid Stanley Crooke, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of Isis. "CRP is an excellent illustration of the power of our
technology which enables us to efficiently develop drugs to any target and
to select targets that supply the most significant curative benefit in
disease areas where new treatment options are urgently needed."
ISIS 353512 Targets CRP
ISIS 353512 is an antisense dose that targets CRP. For many days, CRP
has been used as a clinical biomarker of diseases with an inflammatory
factor, such as cardiovascular disease, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid
arthritis and end-stage renal disease. Elevated levels of CRP have been
linked to coronary artery disease and a growing body of evidence from
clinical trials implicates CRP in cardiovascular disease progression.
Although CRP's active engagement in these diseases remains to be
determined, several lines of evidence support a causal role of CRP in
disease, suggesting that it may be therapeutically good to decrease
CRP levels in patients who ar at danger for coronary thrombosis events. In addition,
elevated CRP levels have been associated with a worsening of overall
outcome in conditions such as end-stage renal disease, suggesting that
lowering CRP in these patients would be good. In presymptomatic studies,
ISIS 353512 produced dramatic suppression of liver and serum CRP levels.

Download Sea Hags
Artist: Sea Hags: mp3 download Genre(s): Other Discography: Sea Hags Year: 1989 Tracks: 11 Sea Hags' quicksilver aliveness history redefined the artistry of self-annihilation, and the band's little carry was over virtually ahead it began -- how stone & turn over of them. Hailing from Seattle, Sea Hags were formed in 1985 by Ron Yocom (vocals, guitar), Frankie Wilsey (guitar), Chris Schlosshardt (bass), and Adam Maples (drums), wHO jointly decided to relocate to San Francisco in a bid to get under one's skin closer to their Hollywood hair metal dreams. Metallica's Kirk Hammett lententide a hand in the recording of their low gear demo, and such was its assure that after signing with Chrysalis Records, production on their eponymous 1989 debut was charged to Guns N' Roses technologist Mike Clink. Processing the sounds of '80s sleaze metallic element through the Pacific Northwest's distinctly darker and occult (and unsuspectingly pre-grunge) sonic esthetic, the album met with a great deal critical victor, just was a commercial floating-point cognitive process. Not that it mattered, since the inherently fated outfit would presently live up to their decadent image by break up under bitter circumstances (subject matter blackguard, canceled performances, etc.) in the middle of a European turn. To echo their manager's argument at the time: "There's only so far you can get with trey junkies and one alcohol-dependent." Tentative plans for a counter remained simply that, and when Schlosshardt suffered a lethal diacetylmorphine o.d. in 1991, Sea Hags were officially no more. Yokom has eluded the media centre of all time since, and though Maples was concisely rumored to be Steven Adler's renewal in GNR, it was Wilsey wHO eventually found a laconic rock & roll hereafter of sorts, changing his call to Wilsex and connexion Stephen Pearcy's Arcade. |

TV series to search for top disabled model
'Britain's Missing Top Model' will see eight women compete before a panel of industry experts.
The five-part series aims "to challenge preconceived notions of beauty". The winner will land a spread in a women's glossy magazine, shot by one of the world's top fashion photographers.
BBC3 controller Danny Cohen said: "This series aims to challenge the artificial boundaries that seem to exist in the beauty and fashion industries.
"It would be great if in the future we began to see more disabled models gracing the covers of the world's magazines."
The competition is open to disabled women aged between 18 and 30.
It has a similar format to 'America's Next Top Model', which was hosted by Tyra Banks. The eight finalists will live together in an apartment and complete a different challenge each week.
Industry experts will train them for photoshoots, location work and the catwalk.
The series will be supported by Ouch, the BBC's disability website, and is being made in consultation with Disability Action in Islington, North London.
Lohan Turns Down Fur Coat Offer
Lindsay Lohan has turned down a nightclub owner's offer to bail her out of her latest legal woe - because she insists she is innocent. Model Masha Markova has filed papers at Manhattan's State Supreme Court claiming Lohan stole her $11,000 mink coat as she left a New York nightclub after a birthday party in January . The coat was later returned, but only after Lohan had been photographed wearing an identical fur on the same night. Nightclub boss John Englebert stepped in on Wednesday and offered to settle the case for Lohan, and buy her her own mink coat. But the actress insists she doesn't need his help. Her representative says, "She already has one (fur coat)." Adding of the coat mystery, the rep adds, "If she took it, she took it by mistake. There are worse mistakes to make."See Also

Whitney Houston - Houston Cleared Of Drug Charges
Misdemeanour drug possession charges against WHITNEY HOUSTON have been dropped by a Hawaiian judge, following a substance abuse assessment of the star.
Houston, 44, was suspected of possessing marijuana while travelling through a Hawaiian airport in 2000 with ex-husband Bobby Brown.
The pop superstar allegedly disposed of less than half an ounce (28 grams) of the drug and three partially smoked marijuana cigarettes, before boarding a United Airlines flight from Keahole-Kona airport to San Francisco, California.
The assessment, submitted in February 2008 by a New Jersey substance abuse counselor, stated Houston does not require treatment for substance abuse. She is now cleared of all charges.
Rumours of drug abuse have surrounded the star since her marriage to R+B singer Brown, and she spent time in rehabilitation facilities in 2004 and 2005. Houston's record label bosses maintain she has been clean of all illegal substances since her most recent stint three years ago.
